Eliminating hypen (-), when dialing

Hi,

I created two sip users as 5-1236, and 6-1239.

I am able to register with the above user names with the server. But, when I dial from one number to another number, it is saying:

Call from ‘5-1236’ to extension ‘61239’ rejected because extension not found in context ‘test’.

Means, Asterisk is eliminating hyphen (-), when dialing.

Is there any solution for this? If not, Is there any special character that Asterisk will allow to create the sip users?

Thanks in advance.

The dash (-) character is ignored in extensions and patterns except when it is used in a pattern to specify a range in a character set. It has no effect in matching or sorting extensions.

See #1 under ‘Order of Pattern Matching’ in following link.

Hello Sathish,

Thanks very much for your reply. I tried using underscore and it works fine.
