Doorbell starts Asterisk script

Hello together,

i have a “Auerswald tfs dialog 200” as a doorbell system connected to my FritzBox, so that if somebody rings the phones are ringing. My idea is now to control my PTZ-IP-Camera with a bash-script as soon somebody rings at the doorbell. Before i start installing Asterisk I want to ask you if it´s possible to configure Asterisk just to react on a call with starting a script without answering the call?

Yes. There is no need to call Answer() in a dialplan, and no point in calling Playback, in this case. (Answer() is overused.)
