Can't connect to asterisk SIP - Request Timeout

Hi all,

I have a SIP-Account on Asterisk named ‘1337’(pls don’t mock me for that^^)
but I can’t log in to it. I always get a ‘Request Timeout’ Error on my Clients. I’ve tried zoiper and csipsimple on Android 4.4.4 and zoiper on Windows 8.1.
I’ve set ‘debug set 4’ and ‘sip set debug on’ but I did not see any debug messages on the asterisk cli.

For background:
I’m trying to build a VOIP-GSM-Gateway with a USB-UMTS-Modem with asterisk 11 an the cham_dongle module and freepbx 2.11.
I have set it all up according to this Tutorial:

I decided to look at the network traffic.
My Asterisk is behind a NAT. I have forwarded port 28888 to my Asterisk server and am using a dyndns service to connect to it.

First I checked the port I used.

The phone is specifying an unrouteable address, but you are trying to register to a public address. Re-configure the phone so that it sends a contact header containing its public address. ICE support in the phone may help as well.

I don’t see anything in the Asterisk configuration that would allow it to provide its public address, but you haven’t provided the trace from the Asterisk side to confirm that.

Also, you have a weird mix of options. canreinvite is either deprecated or not even recognized on any version of Asterisk that supports ICE.

It is possible that some of the nat= options will force Asterisk to ignore the address in the Contact header, and, in any case, nat=yes is deprecated.

I have now configured asterisk to work only inside my home network to exclude nat issues.
I also have enabled ice on my phone.
But, I still have the same issue. I am still getting a ‘Request Timeout’ Error on my Clients when trying to register.

Maybe it is being blocked by a firewall. In any case, use netstat, to make sure that bindport worked.
