Call Park Signaling Support

I understand Asterisk supports the Call Park/Pick feature via the use of numeric access codes. For instance, the person parking the call dials “#” followed by a configured 3 digit number (e.g., 700) to park the call. The Asterisk app then ‘voices’ the extension used internally to park the call on back to the person who parked the call (the parker). The parker then communicates this extension to the person who may pick up the call. This picker than simply dials the extension to retrieve the call.

I’m wondering if there is a secondary way to signal this. Is there a SIP signaling scheme supported by Asterisk to park and pick a call? Or is the use of feature access codes the only way?

Thanks,
