Has anyone out there had any luck getting a B410p BRI card working in NT mode?
Here’s what we’re trying to do:
We’ve got an OpenSuse 10.2 box running Asterisk 1.4.5 with a B410p card with two of the ports in NT mode, and the other two in TE mode. We’re trying to connect one of the NT ports to a BRI interface on our “Commander Connect” PABX. The Commander is a rebadged Lake Communications box which is sold by BT as “Versatility”.
No matter what I’ve tried, I cannot get a L1 link between the Commander and the B410p to come up. The driver appears to load ok, and asterisk seems happy with the config. I’ve tested the TE ports into one of the ISDN NT1s being used by the Commander, and it works correctly (including sending and receiving calls).
I can connect one of the TE ports to one of the NT ports on the same card, and the link comes up.
I don’t have an ISDN handset to test with, but I have tried connecting the ISDN port on a Cisco router and I get L1 link.
I’ve tried different kernel versions, different versions of mISDN (1_1_3, 1_1_4 and the latest via GIT) and different versions of Asterisk (1.2, 1.4). I’ve tried kernel versions 2.6.18.8 and 2.6.21.5 on the current server as well as a TrixBox 2.2 installation on a different machine, and none of them work.
At this stage, I’m thinking that there must be some line level signaling that the Commander is expecting that the B410p doesn’t provide - but I cannot find anything else to try changing.
Has anyone out there had any luck with this sort of thing?
Yes, tried that. It works when looped back to one of the TE ports.
Tried that too… hasn’t helped.
I’m pretty sure that the B410p is working to some extent. I can get a connection to an ISDN port on a Cisco router. The problem appears to be related to the Commander expecting to see something specific in the way of line signaling. If I had an ISDN analyser I could probably figure it out.
Is the PBX looking for PP or PTMP ?
IF the NT port works whe looped back this may be the problem.

It’s supposed to support either. Currently I’m using PTP, but I’ve tried PTMP as well (configured on both the PBX and the B410p).
Have you tried a ISDN2 crossover cable ?
Or is the the system expecting to see power for some reason?
Ian
Crossover is provided via the jumpers on the B410p.
I don’t think that the PBX expects to see power as the current NT1 connections are only 4-wire.
Yes, the PBX works when plugged into the ISDN Line - so I’m pretty sure the cabling is correct. The B410p also works for at least one other device (ie. a Cisco router).
I’m pretty sure it’s a signaling issue (most likely something in mISDN or chan_misdin) but I’ve got no idea what I can change (if anything) or what to change it to.
