Asterisk versions

Since some years I’m using Asterisk at my home. Now I will upgrade my installed version SVN-branch-1.2-r9073. I’ve seen that there are three versions available 1.4.26.1, 1.6.0.13 and 1.6.1.4. I’ve tried to find out the differences between these versions, but I cannot find any information. I’m using only VOIP telephones, no ISDN telephones.

So what version should I use for upgrading?
What are the advantages/disadvantages of the versions?

If you are running a home system, i would definitely go with one of the 1.6 branches. If you are running an enterprise/corporate phone system, I would stick with 1.4 for at least another 6 months or so… (just my opinion).

1.4 is in bug fix only mode. No new features are being back-ported.

1.6 is where all the new cool stuff happens.
