Are variables in asterisk based on which line(s) are connected to each other?

For example if i have zap/1 call zap/2, will setting a variable during the call interfere with the variables between zap3 and 4?

Also, can i set a variable via the application map that is specific to the line that used the feature?

You can set global variables under the [general] section of the dial plan which can be referenced from any channel.

Anything you set using the Set() application is a channel specific variable and the value will not be visible to to any other channels.
