Asterisk to asterisk voice call

Hi
I want to know if I can make a voice call from an asterisk server to another asterisk server, without using a sip phone software.

I could make a call asterisk to sip phone (SJPhone). So I assume that asterisk does have a sip client.

But I when I call from asterisk to asterisk, it plays that prerecorded welcome file.

You should be able to but it really depends on what you’re trying to do. An extension / dialplan would still be involved on each end (even if * handles the communication.) For Asterisk - Asterisk it’s typically IAX communications but could be any supported transport as far as I know.
