Asterisk as Voice/Fax switch

Hello Everyone,

I’m in a crisis here so forgive me if I haven’t done my research. Would I be able to use Asterisk as a Voice/Fax switch with a SIP trunk, where it will listen to see if the call is a fax, and then send it to our GFI fax server or even digitize the faxes itself, or if it is a voice call route it to our Shoretel phone system?

Our shoretel system can’t do this over the new SIP service and it’s causing a great headache for me.

Any input at all is appreciated.

You should have a look at the faxdetect option in Asterisk’s sip.conf.
