ARI Channel Model : What does "connected" refer to

Good evening,

I am reading through the Asterisk 18 ARI documentation and while reading the description of the Channel data model, I stumbled upon the connected variable.

Could someone please shed some light about this variable ? Am I correct to assume that this variable holds a CallerID object of the person at the other end of the call, aka the called party ? If so, how would a call having more than two participants be handled ?
