I need to know if I would still need a landline phone to make asterisk work? if I dont can I get SIP phone adapters for my asterisk to change analog to ip phone?

now would I still be able to call landline phone with out a landline and would I have to get a any provider like iaxtel.com or fonality or can I just go directly though my internet service? because I got static ip addresses from my cable company.
