Hi there,

Can I install Asterisk on a server and use it for free in our company?
If not what will it cost?
Can I integrate with Asterisk using SCCP at sourceforge for free?

Asterisk is available under the GPL.

There’s no “cost” to use the software.

Our situation is like this. We want our customers to use Asterisk instead of Alcatel etc. . We are going to make a program (make dial, forward, dnd etc) that should integrate with Asterisk using SCCP. Can we do that for free? I guess that the SCCP-people want some money for that. What considerations are there about that?

Many VOIP providers have created services from Asterisk for their customers.

They generally had to do a great deal of changes to the software code to permit a large number users to work successfully, but it was able to be done. They don’t necessarily share the changes they’ve done.

Again, since Asterisk is GPL, no costs are involved.

Hosting costs, are another matter entirely… You’ll have to figure those out for yourself.

Don’t skim, dive deep! Here is a list:

Anything that supports SIP/IAX2 will work no problem. Of course you could go H323/SCCP, but would not recommend.
