you know I have often wondered this myself heh
the problem here is that you have a number of formats to choose from when recording the VM, and you can actually record it in multiple formats.
So what I am saying I guess is pick what formats you are going to be recording the messages in, leave yourself a bunch of 30 second messages figure out how much storage you are using for the total time then extrapolate that out to hours/gig
