Tracking originate through to events in AMI

New to AMI, but wondering how on earth does one track a fax/call in AMI? I can send and receive faxes as expected and I can watch the events roll by in AMI, but my originate just has a response saying it was successful and nothing to identify it. The events all have Uniqueid that tie them together, but how do we know what events match the originate since there is nothing that I can see matching between them?
Is there some way to originate and get an id there that will also show up in the later events? With so many calls going out I can’t trust that the next Newchannel event after my originate will be mine. I must be missing something here…anyone worked this issue and had success?
