[Solved] dialplan show chanvar -> channel xx not found

I am trying to access channel variables of a particular channel - the extesion is 81, mapped to DAHDI/32.
Whatever I try to enter as channel description after “dialplan show chanvar” leads to a channel not found message.
I am confused if that means that there are just no variables defined or if this is a syntax problem.
My assumption was that something like this would do the job: dialplan show chanvar DAHDI/32
I tried all kinds of variations with uppercase, lowercase, quotes, using the extension number, but everything leads to the error.

Solved the problem myself:

  1. the channel has to be active
  2. the syntax had to be DAHDI/32-1
