basically, trying to create a sip URI endpoint and give it to some other party so that they can call through that sip URI.
while trying sip:ip_of_asterisk as the sip uri, it shows authentication error. any suggestions how to do it?
Asterisk is normally used with a user part in the request URI.
You need to either have the From: user match your endpoint name, or have a type=identify section to match calls from your friend. That can be the anonymous match, but expect to have a lot attempted toll fraud if you do that, and make sure that it is impossible to make a charged call from the context used.
