Sip stopped working

all of a sudden my sip to skype is not registering

nothing has changed (as always) in terms of the sip connection

i reset the password and put the new one in

one thing i used to see and i dont’ any more is that when i sip reload - it says that the trunk is available - i dont’ remember the exact wording

also under sip show peers there is nothing in D column

i checked with skype and even tried connecting with x-lite and account is good and works… something wacked out on asterisk

i restored yesterdays file backup with no luck either

also - seems that after i connected with x-lite i can make calls with asterisk for a while - i think it may have to do with registration, but on skype manager i get :

I think we will have to have a look at the SIP signalling. Do a “sip set debug on” in Asterisk CLI and make an outgoing call to Skype. Copy/paste the debug output here.

we did some almost 2 hours of troubleshooting on Friday with Skype support with no luck.

i configure a secondary nic and hard wired the box the the open attacks of the non fire-walled internet to confirm that there was no firewall issue.

after reverting that setting and further investigating we noticed that when i make the call the From: is correct - but when asterisk tried to register it is malforming the address

NOTICE that
From: “asterisk” sip:99051000xxxxxx@my.ip.address.xxx;tag=as5fc1fdf1

should read From: “asterisk” sip:99051000xxxxxx@sip.skype.com;tag=as5fc1fdf1

Skype support was confident that this was the issue as they say all that they can see on their logs is sip 404 , and when we make the outbound call it is definitelly that was as well .

There is nothing malformed about the address (and OPTIONS isn’t REGISTER).

If the ITSP wants its own name there, you can force it using fromdomain, in sip.conf.

Hi have a look at
cyber-cottage.co.uk/en/2012/03/718/ and see if your setings match , you d have to set fromdomain

I do have the fromdomain set under the context that i am using for skype calls

OH… i JUST FIGURED IT OUT - i had register at the bottom so it was falling under a calling context - it has to be up there above in general wehre you are supposed to register

- Ouch - That hurt me…thanks guys - fromdomain, even thought i had it set had pointed me to think about what i did

PEBCAK!
