Remote Phones

I have two remote phones, one is a Astra 57i hard phone and the other is a softphone. Can someone tell me if I am going to need a static IP address at for the remote devices?

What do I need to do to receive inbound and outbound calls on these devices?

Hi

To moke life easy you do need an external IP address on the server and then you can have the sets behind nat with no issues

Ian

the server is sitting behind a Static IP address, however do the remote phones need to be behind a Static IP Address?

Hi When you say “behind” do you mean its natted ?

if it is you will have to do some port forwarding to get double not to work ok.

Ian

the asterisk is behind a natted public ip address…

can remote phones be on a network that has DHCP provided internet connection???

YES !

Yes of course, you need to set nat=yes in the sip.conf declaration of your extensions and configure some stun server in your remote soft/hard phone.

Good luck.
