PSTN to VoIP call routing and transfering

I’m new to this * system and have been searching the forums for my question and havn’t been able to yield any results.

I was wondering if it is possible to have an * machine receive a call on a PSTN line and have it routed to a remote location via VoIP and also be able to make calls out from the remote location through the PSTN line? Would this also require having an * machine at the remote location?

Any information or a point to the information would be greatley appreciated.

This is the core concept that is driving uptake of VoIP, and that allows price competitivity over traditional carriers. So the short answer, Yes.
