Hi,
What is the maximum number of extension we can create on the asterisk 1.8 ?

The number depends on the hardware.

Hi,
We would not expect many call, estimated 5-10 calls per days. So hardware need not be that powerful. Question is how many extension can we create on the asterisk and we do not record the cdr. Is there a configuration limit on creating the extension ?

For directly connected analogue, the number of connected devices depends on the hardware (you need a physical connection to each device). Most people would not install new systems with large numbers of analogue devices.

For VoIP, the number depends on the available memory, and, possibly the CPU power. I have never heard of anyone hitting those limits in terms of inactive VoIP devices.

The number of extensions is not the same as the number of devices, but is affected by similar constraints to those for VoIP devices.

CPU power is a factor in that some background operations may involve either searching or scanning the list of devices, and call setup involves some searching of the extensions.

Ours is VoIP softphone mostly desktop PC. Any guide on the Memory and CPU to support estimated X number of softphone ?
