Let’s say we have a person sitting in a call center. They pickup their IP phone and the phone number of the person who is calling shows up on the phone LCD screen. So far so good.
Is it possible to have a piece of Windows software that could query the IP phone over the network to retrieve the caller ID and then copy it to the clipboard? I’m thinking that the call-taker could click a button or use some sort of hot-key combo to run the query. Then they could paste the phone number into the Windows software to bring up the account information.
We have a pretty dated windows application that we have to use to dispatch vehicles. It currently gets its caller-id info from a little box that the phone PSTN lines run through. Clearly that won’t work anymore if we’re running Asterisk and switching over to a VOIP provider!!
