I installed snmp on asterisk , but no benefit!

hi ,
i have elastix server based on asterisk ,
i wanted to enable snmp , i followed the guidelines in the link below:
elastixconnection.com/index. … Itemid=115
asu see ,snmp depends on asterisk MIB ,
i followed the steps in the link , and used PRTG Monitor to receive the logs
but after all of that ,
i didnt find benifit of using SNMP, cause i didnt find something like monitoring the sip state , number of calls , , i mean i ddint find any thing perfect to be monitored , i mean no sip monitoring no queue monitoring …etc .

all of what displayed is something not understood .

i will include screenshots of what my PRTG could monitors :

as u see, the im not finding any benefit of these sensors !!!

my question is , is this the only asterisk sensors ??? or there are another sensors can be added ??
am i doing something wrong in configuration ??

i have the system secifications as below :

Your second red ellipse covers items that are provided by the basic platform SNMP support, not Asterisk.

There is no in depth SNMP instrumentation in Asterisk. If you need that level of detail, you need to use the Asterisk CLI, directly, or via AMI.

hi , do you mean that from the 1st image , that asterisk has no details in snmp ??

does that mean that asterisk has a weak snmp ??

i looked for another application which is called nagios , and found alot of details to give instead of SNMP ,
so u think nagios is better thank asterisk snmp ???

wts ur advice to me ?

You can use nagios or icinga but for the basic stuff that you want a FOP, FOP2, MONAST or other monitor tool based on AMI its enough.

hi ,
the most important thing im looking for is ,
i want to monitor my extentions states ,
as u know , the state my be ok(reachable) or unreachable or unknown , u can know it be using the commad $sip show peers

my scenarios is , i have an employees and working with part time , and those work remotely ,
i want to monitor the states of these extentions , i just want a graph that graph the state of the extention along the time
assume i green , mean that the extention is reachbale , assume red refers to that the extention was unreachable and so on.

i found this confi availabe at nagios , but in the same time i find it hard to be installed!!!

do u think Monast is suitable for me , or i have to install nagios ??
is there simple tools can give me what i want ??

regards

Yep thats a basic stuff, you can use monast or create your own AMI script, like using php. Maybe the phpagi library can help you.
