I used to use FreePBX, and the performance of the G.729 codec with that server is fine. Now I am building a pure Asterisk system. I have found, that the quality of G.729 codec on my new machine is much worse. In particular, often there is some loud noise before playing G.729 sound files. How to correct this?
This distortion happens after I send DTMF (navigate menus).
I have found that this happens when there is a Wait command.
I got it. It is the Transmit silence during rec global setting. Must be enabled to eliminate such noise.
