I am curious if anyone has any insight into the behavior of VSPs.
The interesting thing is, when a dynamic SIP account is provisioned for you, typically an equivalent of asterisk’s type=friend is used. This means you need to enter your credentials not only in the registration string, but also in the SIP peer definition. The calls sent to to you are almost never capable of being authenticated, so you must use the insecure option to clear the credentials for the incoming calls.
If type=peer was in use, no credentials/insecure option would be necessary in the peer definition.
Just curious what is the origin of this.
