Chan_sip.c:26422 handle_request_invite: Failed to authenticate device

Hello ,
I hv configured successfully asterisk server. But intermittently the below Notice I am seeing

 chan_sip.c:26422 handle_request_invite: Failed to authenticate device sip:1001
chan_sip.c:26422 handle_request_invite: Failed to authenticate device sip:111
chan_sip.c:26422 handle_request_invite: Failed to authenticate device sip:999

Why is this error? Is there is any external someone who is trying to connect my asterisk server yet?

There are many people trying to connect to SIP server that is exposed to the internet and not firewalled to only accept connections from their service provider.

If you need to run such a configuration look into fail2ban.

Is that possible to use iptables firewall at the linux server?

That’s how people would normally use fail2ban.
