How many Simultaneous users can an asterisk server deployed on a Dell 1950 base server handle?

We have a call center in India at present we have call volumes in the 3000 simultaneous calls.

Can someone please explain to me from a hardware point of view:

  1. What kind of servers do I need? If im only using my servers as mediating between a SIP gateway.
  2. How many of these servers do I require?
  3. What licensing issues am I looking at with Asterisk?

The reply to these questions are urgent and would appreciate a reply as soon as possible.

there is no answer to this. if you’d done your research you would have found that there are more factors, e.g. length of call (call setup and teardown is expensive), codecs, monitoring etc etc.

if this is important, get a development budget, install a single server and hammer it. then you’ll know. you’ll know, you won’t be putting something as critical as this in the hands of someone here with no comeback/backup.
