Thanks. Can you tell me where to put answeronpolarityswtich and Waitforsilence? What file do I need to edit?
Thank you.
Hello,
Just want you to know that I figured out how to do Waitforsilence but I just hear the silence and nothing else. Instead, I now let it keep repeating my message until I press “2” to “goodbye” the call. This works for me.
As you discovered, Waitforsilence and BackgroundDetect are both asterisk commands that you use in your dialplan. Answeronpolarityswitch is a setting in zapata.conf for your channel.
Yes, Waitforsilence just waits. If you want to play something in the background while you wait to detect an answer (defined as a prolonged silence), then you can use BackgroundDetect. You should be able to google examples of this asterisk command to get it working; just set your silence wait time to about 4250 ms (for US telco) if you are using a zap channel.
I have not used answeronpolarity switch. You should be able to google some examples. Odds are, your telco does not provide this service to you anyway. I couldn’t even find anyone at my telco that understood what answer supervision was let alone figure out if I had or could order the service.
