Asterisk thru VPN

hi to all,

just a quick question: would asterisk be able to communicate to another server if it had to go thru a VPN tunnel with 128 bit encryption and would there be any effect on asterisk’s way of handling calls? Thanks :smile:

The fact that it’s going through a tunnel shouldn’t make any difference. It’s a virtual network and shouldn’t appear any different to a real network. Configs have to be right, of course.

The only problem i can think of might be the lag caused by the latency of the encryption and decryption process.

I use it through a VPN tunnel using 3ES and SHA. I use both hard and soft phones and IAX trunks. No Problem.
