Asterisk crashing when internet drops

Hello all

a problem we are haing with our Asterisk box is, if the internet drops the system hangs and crashes

with the only way to being functionality back is to reboot the server

version is 1.4.7.1 and its running on Ubuntu feisty fawn

it seems to be relient on DNS?

we have 3 available gateways but only one of them is specified in ubuntu, if the gateway asterisk uses goes off line the box crashes so i tried to changed the default gateway to a different one, the machine gets internet access but it still will not work until the original gateway has coem back up

i hope all that makes sense?

please help!!!

Nooooo, if the internet is down or DNS is down then if you set your peers in sip.conf to only try for say 10 retrys it wont lock it up

Also Define your hosts in the hosts file, so if DNS fails it knows where the hosts still are.
