Asterisk books? Which ones do you recommend?

I am very very new to Asterisk and somewhat familiar with voip.
I am going to do some reading before asking all the newbie questions:)

I am planning on picking up

  1. The Future of Telephony, 2nd Edition by Jim Van Meggelen
  2. Building Telephony Systems with Asterisk by David Gomillion
  3. Switching to VoIP by Ted Wallingford
  4. Asterisk Gateway Interface 1.4 and 1.6 Programming by Nir Simionovich

Is this a decent reading list for a newbie?
I know I can download a pdf of #1 but I’d rather read a dead
tree edition.

Thanks,
Mike

I have:

  1. The Future of Telephony, 2nd Edition by Jim Van Meggelen
  2. Building Telephony Systems with Asterisk by David Gomillion
  3. Switching to VoIP by Ted Wallingford

and they were all very good. I also have SIP demystified and VOIP demystified which are also great books. I have noticed that every book gives you a bit of knowledge that the other may not, so it’s worth reading all of them and play along.

I got an email from Amazon the other day that there is a new Asterisk book coming out.

The best way to learn is to read the books and play, play play.

There are PDF’s for some of the books that you have posted but you need to know where to "find them  ".
