Bug Report: Asterisk 20.6.0 WebSocket PJSIP Registration

Issue

WebSocket SIP clients fail to register with error:

WARNING: res_pjsip_registrar.c:1166 find_registrar_aor: AOR '' not found for endpoint 'appuser'
SIP/2.0 404 Not Found

Problem

  • REGISTER request passes authentication challenge :white_check_mark:

  • Authenticated REGISTER sent with correct Digest auth :white_check_mark:

  • Asterisk rejects with 404 and reports empty AOR :cross_mark:

  • Contact never gets stored

  • AOR parameter shows as empty despite being defined in pjsip.conf

Version

  • Asterisk: 20.6.0

  • Transport: WebSocket (WSS)

Result

All WebSocket dynamic registrations fail on this version

This will happen if the requested AOR of the REGISTER doesn’t match the name of the configured AOR. You need to provide a SIP trace as well as configuration.
