Any Sangoma/Fax Success Stories?

I’ve read many complaints that faxing does not work with Sangoma cards. I’m experiencing this myself with A200 and A104D cards. Is there anybody out there who has been successful in making fax work with Sangoma cards? How’d you do it?

Thanks,

Hum. I installed Sangoma 104D on all my sites and the fax works fine everywhere!.. The best part is that I did nothing special, I programmed my asterisk as if it was a normal analog port…

Guess it’s a good thing I missed those complaints. Works fine here. I’ve got the Sangoma 2 port PRI with hardware echo cancelling. For receiving faxes, I’m using IAXModem and Hylafax.

For sending, my other PRI is connected to my legacy PBX (A Merlin Legend) which is acting as a channel bank sort of. I have analog lines on it that fax machines are connected to.

The only thing that could even remotely considered a problem (which I don’t) is that IAXModem only supports 9600 baud due to patent issues. We can’t receive at 14.4kbps or 33.6kbps. I only noticed maybe a second or two difference in 1 to 2 page faxes, so I don’t consider this an issue. We have 7 voice channels on our PRI, we used to have all ISDN BRI or analog. We had 2 fax lines. The speed might have been an issue then, but now we’ve gone from being able to handle only 2 fax calls to up to 7 (if no one else is on the phone). That far outweighs the second or two lost on fax transmissions.

I didn’t do anything special to get things working. I didn’t know it wasn’t supposed to work. I’ve learned that that makes a huge difference in the success or failure of a project. If you expect to fail, you’re gonna fail.

thanks for your feedback, it is encouraging.

sangoma tech support has contacted me with news of a new firmware that is meant to help. additionally they tell me a customer had problems with Zaptel 1.2.6 and downgrading to 1.2.5 helped.
