Adding queue members - Local/, SIP/ etc

Hi guys,

Using the queues-with-callback-members.txt file I have a working Asterisk system which allows an agent to login and get assigned to a queue and log out again.

I used the following line to add my agent:

This puts whatever the calling device is in the queue. However, in the example the line is:

I understand why someone may want to specify a specific device but what exactly is the ‘Local/’ mean and why append it with ‘@agents’?

Although my system is working, an explanation would be most appreciated. :smile:

Ok Queuename is obvious

The Local means use a Local channel ie

in extensions.conf

[agents] exten => 1234,1,Noop(Agent dial) exten => 1234,n,Dial(SIP/2222&IAX21234)

could be dialed as Local/1234@agents

Does that make sense ?

Ah ha :exclamation: So the Local/ tells asterisk to go perform whatever commands are in extensions.conf for the extension ‘1234’ in the ‘agents’ context?
