I pulled my hair out trying to find out why my zap extension couldn’t speed dial using freepbx (where the default speed dial prefix is ‘*0’), but my SIP office phone could. Long story short, I found out that the zap channel driver implements a number of star codes internally, including ‘*0’. Yes, I can change this, but I’d rather not, since I’ve been using it for the last couple of years (and my family is trained to use the ‘*001’, etc…) This is happening now because I replaced the ATA on the inside wiring with a zap card. Given that freepbx does its own star code processing, I’m wondering if there is a way to disable the zaptel stuff?
