Zaptel Problem on 4 Processor Opteron System

Hi All,

I’ve just put together a system comprising of the following;

Hardware
2 x AMD Opteron 270 Processors (Dual Core)
Tyan K8WE Mobo
2GB Kingston PC3200 Registered RAM
2 x WD Raptor 10000rpm 74Gb
Digium TE210p

Software
Mandriva 2006 Public Release (Kernel 2.6.12-12mdksmp)
Asterisk 1.2.4
Zaptel 1.2.3

Problem
Zaptel compiles and installs to the right place after modifiing /usr/src/linux2.6.12-12/Makefile EXTRAVERSION it then installs to “/lib/modules/2.6.12-12mdksmp/misc/”.
When I run “modprobe zaptel” I get “FATAL: Error inserting zaptel (/lib/modules/2.6.12-12mdksmp/misc/zaptel.ko): Invalid module format”

uname -a reveals;
"[root@asteriskpbx zaptel-1.2.3]# uname -a
Linux asteriskpbx 2.6.12-12mdksmp #1 SMP Fri Sep 9 17:20:34 CEST 2005 x86_64 Dual Core AMD Opteron™ Processor 270 unknown GNU/Linux"

Both the kernel package and the kernel source package are exactly the same version “2.6.12-12mdk”.

Ive also given up trying to use Dual cores.

think we are both doing the same thing…though wrong thing when trying to compile zaptel on 2 x Dual core.

Though 4 x Opteron single core works with no problems.

Well I’ve just got it working with the SMP Kernel :smiley:. What Distro you using? I can give you some pointers to try again :stuck_out_tongue:.

Regards Chris
