Wich problems with NAT

Hi guys

I m using Asterisk in cloud mode with clients that connect over VPN.

It would be nice and easier for me to remove the VPN and make the phones connect direclty to my server, but I would have to set up NAT and I m wondering what kind of problems I could encount to prevent issues

Maybe should I ask my question in an other way

if I want to connect my phones to a distant server, is it better to do it through a VPN compared to a direct connection using NAT ? if yes, could someone explain me why ?

Do I lose features using NAT ?

VPN is a lot less hassle and is also much more secure. NAT has had to be bolted onto SIP, but VPNs are invisible to it.
