What makes PJSIP to change contact status To Avail/Unavail?

I’ve got an issue with a PJSIP trunk (ols Asterisk 16.16.1 on Bullseye) which have a contact status continuously changing from Avail to Unavail and vice versa.

My guess was:

  • anytime an INVITE is sent and gets a reply, status is toggled to Avail
  • anytime an INVITE is sent and gets no reply, status is toggled to Unavail
  • anytime several consecutive OPTIONS gets no reply, status is toggled to Unavail
  • anytime several consecutive OPTIONS get at least one reply, status is toggled to Avail

But the above rules doesn’t match my current observation,

It is based purely on OPTIONS. Calls don’t impact it.

So basically, any REPLY received within a 3 seconds time frame should toggle status to Avail while no reply at all within the same time frame should toggle status to Unavail, right ?

Yes, any response to the OPTIONS request.
