Hello all. I’m quite new to Asterisk and I’ve set up a system for home use, which has been working great so far. However, I’d now like to use German sound files. I’ve found some information indicating that you can download them from `asterisksounds.org`. But that page doesn’t seem to exist (anymore), or rather, it redirects to completely different content. Is there another way to officially download these files?

From a project perspective we didn’t run [asterisksounds.org](http://asterisksounds.org) and the sound files were done by a third party.

Ah, thanks. So … there are officially no German sound files?

The ones we have as a project show up in “make menuselect” under “Core Sound Packages”. If you don’t see a language there, it’s not one we provide.

Nothing official, no, but that doesn’t mean there are none at all.

For example:

Also, if you can find German sound files for FreePBX, they may well include
everything you need for a standard Asterisk system (FreePBX is based on
Asterisk and its sound files are normally a superset of Asterisk’s).

If you don’t mind paying for quality and continued support:

> **[IVR voice prompts in German for Asterisk - Deutsch](https://www.westany.com/marilda_female_german/)**
>
> Recorded by experienced German voice artist. Individual recordings from €9.97 each. Stealthy turn around in many formats. Asterisk Deutsch Sprachansagen

Disclaimer: I have not personally tried any of the above, only found them.

Antony.

Nothing that Claude Code or Codex—along with the corresponding subscription and a $5 TTS engine plan—can’t solve in a few minutes.
