I just wanted to know what I all need to run IP phones off of the pbx box? would I need a special card for the pbx box or can I just use regular ethernet card to a ethernet switch or what?
Your IP phones are probably designed to plug into your ethernet LAN. Your PBX box needs to be on the same LAN. The only hardware you might need is a LAN hub, which you probably already have.
Some IP phones are designed to get their operating power over ethernet. If your phones work this way, you’ll need one ethernet power-injector per phone, or a LAN hub that has power injection capability. (This capability is sometimes called POE (power over ethernet)).
