Voicemail crash cleanup

Does asterisk have any kind of built in option or provision for cleaning up voicemail messages that end up corrupted as a result of either a crash, partially failed hard drive etc…

example: we had the filesystem mount read only due to a hard HDD error… this file system handled voicemail for the system… the system attempted to remount it automatically and it worked for a bit … in the end we ended up with voicemail messages that contained their Txt file descriptors but not the sound files… unfortunately the voicemail user is unable to delete them through normal means… we had to go through mailboxes and delete those out manually in linux…

do im wondering if asterisk has a housekeeping process that can be invoked, or if its just best for us to wrtie a script to housekeep the voicemail every so often… and if so , do we need to renumber the messages? or is it Ok to leave msg0000 and then say msg0004 with nothing in between or does that foul it up?

we are using 1.8.11-cert5
