TC400B - related voice quality issues

When the transcoder card is loaded, we get a lot of issues with regards to voice quality while using chanspy.

However, the actual recorded conversation appears to be fine when we listen to the call afterwards.

Thomson phone -> (sip g729) -> asterisk -> sip (g729) asterisk -> E1 (PSTN)

Works fine. And we can chanspy if there is no transcoder card loaded in the system. Also chanspy works and recordings work perfectly.

Is transcoding using the software codec instead of the card.

Sound has some clicks and pops, as does chanspy. This was without a transcoder card and without an E1card using simply ZTDUMMY for timing.

The issues appear to be something to do with timing / codec packetization in my opinion.
