These errors are related to the smartd package and not Asterisk. Smartd is a daemon for monitoring the SMART status of your hard disks.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. do i need to install smartd drivers? how do i fix it.

My honest suggestion would be to check out and ask the smartd people here: http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net/ (smartmontools is the parent project of smartd).

From previous research into smartd, It currently does not support Serrial ATA (SATA) drives withhout a patch to smartd. If you are using SATA devices, your choices are to disable smartd, since it is does not provides support for these drives, or locate and apply the SATA patch.

Hi ,

Thanks a lot for all your replies.

I am using Serial Attached SCSI drives. i went to the smartd website suggested, but hardly understand what to do to fix it.

right now, i disabled it by using below commands. not sure i am taking risk here.

service smartd stop
chkconfig smartd off

any more suggestions or help will be appreciated.

thanks
