Should I use asterisk?

I looking to setup a phone number that when is called it auto answers, then presses 9. Should I be using asterisk? Is that overkill? By chance are there phone numbers already setup that do this?

Currently I have a number forward to my cellphone and I answer it manually then press 9 manually.

Asterisk could answer a phone line and play the DTMF 9. So could an answering machine or voice mail greeting.

Many other factors would deterimine which is the better solution.
