Send a string to make a call (source and dest #s)

We have a CS1000 PBX infrasructure and would like to have an application trigger a call with the caller # info and destination # info (small help desk calling support, from a list in an application) Can this be done via Asterisk?

“string” to Asterix to CS1000?

Or is there a better way to do this?
