Receiving calls from caller id 'asterisk'

This is new to me, oner the past few days we have received dead calls arriving with the caller id of ‘asterisk’ but nothing there on pick up. yester it was one handset, day before on 2 occassions the group rang together.

On your system you will have a directory called

/var/log/asterisk
and
/var/log/asterisk/cdr-csv

and in here are lots of files… In these files you will find the answer or at least a clue as to what is happening.
once you have had a look come back and give a bit more detail…

this came from the log which looked different to the normal log of calls coming and going?

another set today from a different client - the problem is, some of these clients are using virtual pbx’s at home and are receiving calls though the night as well. any further suggestions?

anyone any idea here folks?

Well you are being poked, by the looks of it and if the ip addresses aren’t from system you know , Block them in you firewall

also check that you have secured the box with ref to the digium faq on it.
