I’m running a vanilla CLI setup of Certified 16.3. I have one or more sip endpoints [trunks] that use dns_srv. I noticed that the unbound library is not included in install_prereq. Asterisk seems to run fine without it but I was wondering if there is something to gain by adding the library?
You gain features from the library itself, such as caching of records within it as well as DNSSEC support. Functionality such as SRV and NAPTR continue to work without it.
Thanks. That was kind of what I thought. I’m really liking this latest setup since I got tls working and am now able to use a fqdn in pjsip.conf for the external_media & signalling address so I think I’m going to leave well enough alone.
