Providing SMS service based on PSTN phone line by Asterisk

Hi friends
We have a question about Asterisk card capability.
Can we used the card as SMS Center to receive the message (MO) from the sender directly and generate the terminate message (MT)?

In fact, we want to develop SMS center to provide SMS service based on PSTN phone line in our city and using Asterisk card the Server.

Please help us about it’s possibility and doing ways.

we want to know the Asterisk (1.6.2.7 or higher) has this ability to receive MO packet directly or not?
