Pressing # on external IVR interrupts call

My daughter was calling the IVR system at her bank via my * server. One of the prompts required the number sign to be appended to a string. When she did this, she heard several slow beeps and the call hung up.

This happened on each attempt, but making the same call from her cell phone worked fine. It sounds like * is intercepting the # key press, but I have no idea why this might be, or how to debug it.

Has anyone seen this type of issue before? Any ideas for resolving it would be appreciated.

Asterisk 1.4.11 on SuSE 10.2.

Have a look at features.conf. See if you are using # there for anything else. It may also be your carrier.
