Outbound Caller ID

Hi,

We have been looking for a way to manipulate the outgoing caller ID based on a result from a MYSQL query. This seems fairly simple to do on an Asterisk system as we just need to edit he dial plan. But the challenge we have is that we are using an Avaya IP 500 which does not seem to have this functionality.

Because we need to keep the Avaya system, my question is - is it possible to add an Asterisk system to the call flow so it can then edit the outbound caller id? Or is there a better way to do this?

AvayaIP500 -> Asterisk -> ISDN 30 PIPE

If the Avaya’s not capable of it, putting Asterisk between the Avaya and the telco would be fine - just make sure your telco allows it.
