I have many satellite offices and would like a central communication center for them. Can Asterisk be installed on my remote webserver? I found the documentation in setting it up in a local *nix box but no instructions for setting it up on a server that is not local.

You can install it on remote servers, but I doubt that a webhosting company would allow you to install asterisk on it. You can get a hosted box from some providers that would give you remote access to install asterisk on it.
